AARP Washington, DC. Project consisted of 5,000 square foot renovation of production control and equipment room space with dedicated HVAC and UPS power.
Working closely with the Architect and TV systems integrator, DesignTech helped AARP overcome some significant challenges in performing this extensive renovation. Specific challenges and solutions associated with the HVAC, Electrical and Fire Protection included:
• Severely limited ceiling space for ductwork and piping was solved by careful coordination
• Stacked mechanical units allowed installation of redundant cooling for the Equipment Room
• Extension of UPS power to new equipment racks and renovated edit rooms
• Modify existing pre-action sprinkler system ad fire alarm system to accommodate renovated space layout
• Cable tray to connect broadcast equipment between edit rooms, production control room, and equipment room was both a visual design element and a functional cable distribution path
