This project was a 5,000 square foot expansion of a wireless telephone switching facility located in Nashville Tennessee. The new space was built within the shell space of an existing on-line facility. DesignTech acted as the lead consultant for the project leading a design team consisting of the MEP engineers, the architect, and the structural engineer. The growth space required the build out of a totally enclosed area within a tilt up flex-space building. The project required a complete new infrastructure. The mechanical system was comprised of N+1 cooling system including 225-tons of computer room cooling equipment and associated dry- coolers for heat rejection. The electrical system required an expansion of the existing distribution system featuring dual power path for the AC system and the battery backed 52-volt DC power.

The electrical infrastructure upgrade also included a new 400 KW stand-by generator. Fire suppression/detection system for the expansion included dry pre-action sprinkler system, a gaseous fire suppression system (FM-200) as well as a very early warning detection system (VESDA) electrical distribution system. The construction required integration with the existing operation with zero downtime for this 24x7 communication center. During the bidding and construction phase of the project, DesignTech worked closely with the construction manager to evaluate the contract bids and to provide construction administration services including regular site visits to work through the complicated construction phasing. At the completion of construction, DesignTech acted as the owners agent for all systems demonstration/commissioning.
