The quirky personality of Mellow Mushroom has now been welded to the ship-building city of Newport News. At this location, the casual dining pizza style restaurant is a new standalone building in a busy and growing area of Newport News. The restaurant is a convenient stop for Christopher Newport University students as well as travelers looking for a stop off of Interstate 64.
The project included custom lighting to accent the nautical theme of the space with exposed duct to tie-in the industrial ship building heritage of the area. The dining patio included ceiling fans, lights and heaters to accommodate 4 season usage. The HVAC system consists of 4 roof mounted air handling units, kitchen hood exhaust fan and kitchen make-up air unit. The gas service provides heat to the building through the roof top units and serves the kitchen cooking equipment.
